Lindores Abbey Distillery has been revived after 523 years. Situated a short four-minute drive from us at Pitcairlie House, it has been described as ’the spiritual home of scotch whiskey’.
In 2017, spirit started to flow once again from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery. They are looking to bring a very modern whisky-making experience to this ancient site.
The water for their whisky comes from a borehole near the distillery meaning that they can use the same supply that was used back in 1494. The barley is grown in Fife, malted and mashed in a conventional, semi-later tun supplied by the renowned distillery fabricators Fortsyths of Rothes.
